What is the myMobile telehealth app, and how will it benefit clients?
The world of technology continues to move at a blistering pace, with all sorts of new and interesting innovations popping up across a range of sectors. The digital health and connected care sectors are no different, and we at Tunstall Healthcare have been at the very frontier of both areas for the best part of 60 years.
Our experience and expertise in the health monitoring business has led to a great many technological breakthroughs over the years, and we hope will continue to do so long into the future. One of these is the forthcoming Tunstall mymobile connected health app, which is due for release in mid-2016. This is our first chronic disease management smartphone app, so let’s take a look at just what mymobile is, how it works, and how it can help clients. Read on to find out more!
What exactly is the Tunstall mymobile connected health app?
In simple terms, the Tunstall mymobile connected health app is an advanced platform extension of our existing myclinic telehealth hub. It’s an app for a smartphone or tablet that is used to keep an eye on the health of patients wherever they are – whether that’s at home, a clinic or community centre. The app has been created with a specific kind of patient in mind – those that have a medical condition where regular collection of health data is essential, or at least beneficial to their ailment.
The app, available on Apple iOS, Android and Windows platforms, is designed to give both the patient and clinician a consistent, simple interface. This means that either party can quickly and efficiently communicate if the need arises.
“Mymobile facilitates proactive self-management, assisting patients to remotely monitor their health data, access individual care plans, and review scheduled interviews with their care team.”
Because mymobile is fully supported Tunstall’s Integrated Care Platform (ICP), it’s possible for clinicians to remotely access the patient’s individual care plan, as well as monitor their vital signs, health interviews and triage processes.
“Supported by our flagship Integrated Care Platform, mymobile facilitates proactive self-management, assisting patients to remotely monitor their health data, access individual care plans, and review scheduled interviews with their care team,” says Lyn Davies, managing director of Tunstall.
This smooth process will allow for clinicians to check a patient’s history wherever either of them are in the world, amongst a great raft of other features. Let’s take a look at a few of these.
What are the key features and benefits of the mymobile app?
Sometimes, new technology can put off potential users because it’s overly complicated and confusing to use. This is not the case with our mymobile health app, as we wanted to create something that could be used by absolutely anyone, without cutting back on its effectiveness as a useful connected health tool.
With this in mind, the mymobile app boasts automatic synchronisation to myclinic. This means that the monitoring plan and interview updates from the ICP will be present and correct, as well as all other existing data. The client has full control over the content used by their Contact Carer, meaning that any miscommunications can quickly and easily be rectified.
The app can also show the clinically defined Monitoring Plan with a simple touch and can display the patient’s latest results in an easy-to read format. Additionally, the mymobile app will fully support existing and future health interview management and creation.
“The new mymobile connected health app provides patients and clinicians with a flexible mobile interface for monitoring vital signs and chronic health conditions on-the-go,” said Ms Davies.
As previously mentioned, the synchronisation between mymobile and Tunstall’s ICP is a major plus-point. Because some patients can be wary of new technology, and may worry that their personal health information could potentially be seen by anyone, mymobile is protected by a highly secure, encrypted SSL connection. Only authorised personnel are able to access the information, so clients can rest assured that their data is safe.

Where can the mymobile app be used?
The mymobile app can be used practically anywhere, especially in non-clinical settings such as the home or aged care accommodation. Its intended use is as a communication tool that will provide an unbreakable link between patient and healthcare provider, a connection that can be by their side 24/7. That healthcare provider could be a disease management centre, or a dedicated caregiver, dependent on their condition.
One of the most useful features of the mymobile app is that it can collect a great deal of medical information about the patient over time. Even basics such as weight, blood pressure and blood glucose levels can be monitored with mymobile, and any gaps can be filled in by patients answering questions in a health interview.
“Once entered, all patient health data is automatically synchronised to our patient management system ICP triage manager for clinical triage by the care team,” states Ms Davies.
